SHERIDAN (KATV) — Sheridan High School has a variety of unique programs, facilities and equipment to provide students with the best learning opportunities possible.
This high school has opened many new schools in recent years.
The biggest addition is the new sports arena. This not only serves a sporting purpose, but also helps educate students on how to edit and produce games.
“We can take our live streams on the go and wherever we want to go. We can be here as high school students and play the sports we want to play and put on the shows we want to do. For our students. We’re going to have that opportunity to live stream and broadcast whatever we want to do,” said Arena Stadium Manager Mason Fisher.
Fisher is a Sheridan graduate who credits the school with helping him find his passion.
He currently teaches other students how to create sports work, create graphics, and edit.
“Sports is great, but there’s also the whole production side of it. Production is what I’m looking for, and there’s a lot of other people doing it as well. Giving them that experience and giving them that opportunity. I’m excited to be able to give.”
There’s another aspect to this arena that helps students develop skills for future jobs while learning about marketing sales, retail trade, and the Yellow Jacket Store.
“Construction work was being done on this arena. This program was new to the state of Arkansas. Our leaders wanted to help our students grow, learn, and gain real-world, hands-on experience. We chose this as the best idea,” said Charlie Kinser, who currently serves as assistant principal at the middle school. To today’s situation.
Yellow Jacket Store originally started with just one rotating apparel shelf.
Over time, it expanded to include an entire store, allowing students who attend Kohler Academy to also sell products designed during class.
“The display has grown to 900 square feet and looks a lot like a college bookstore. Students do all the inventory, merchandising, and marketing for both the physical store as well as the online store.” Keep it here at Yellow Jacket Arena,” Kinser said.
Students and faculty say they receive tremendous support from the community and school district to provide a great place for children to learn and grow.
“There is no one I would love to support, be a part of and help represent more than Sheridan High School,” Fisher says.
