Sidney Gillon retires after winning 2024 Figure Olympia

No one was surprised when Sidney Gillon was announced as the winner of the 2024 Figure Olympia, the division’s eighth consecutive world championship, at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since he began winning a string of titles in 2017, Giron’s competitive dominance has been unparalleled.

However, she shocked the bodybuilding world by announcing her retirement from competition during her victory speech.

“This is it. You just saw the end of my career,” the 32-year-old champion said. Her announcement marks the end of a career that dates back to 2012, when she earned her pro card at the 2012 NPC Nationals. The former “Survivor” star made her Olympia debut in 2014, finishing ninth at that year’s Figure Olympia, ahead of Nicole Wilkins, who previously held the record for most wins with three. Giron nearly tripled that mark.

Gillon’s presence at this airport has been credited with contributing to the improvement of the division she was proud to represent, but at the same time she has been at the top since winning her first title in 2017. continues to maintain its position. For some perspective on how dominant she has been, the last time she wasn’t a Figure Olympia champion was Barack Obama as the President of the United States.

That will change for the 2025 Figure Olympia, as it is certain that a new champion will be crowned. New top contenders for that title include 2024 runner-up Jessica Reyes Padilla and bronze medalist Lola Montez.

As for Giron, she hasn’t said much about her future plans, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she continues to be involved with the sport. She also works as a coach, including serving as posing coach for Olympian Andrea Shaw, who is currently competing five times. She also runs several busy businesses. After taking the stage, her focus was celebrating with her family in Las Vegas.

The 2024 Joe Weider Olympia Fitness and Performance weekend continues on Saturday, October 12th, headlined by the 60th Mr. Olympia finals. You can watch all the action live by ordering the 2024 Olympia pay-per-view. www.olympiaproductions.com.
