Sonia Bompastre is happy with Chelsea’s efficiency but has concerns about Lauren James’ fitness

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastre believes that Chelsea performed effectively in defeating FC Twente 3-1 and winning the Champions League for the second time in a row, but is concerned about Lauren James’ condition. There is.

The Women’s Super League champions are top of Group B with back-to-back European wins.

However, Bonpastar were forced to make changes to their original starting XI in the second half, with Johanna Ritting-Caneleid replacing England forward James, who had a foot problem.

“In the last moments of the warm-up, she felt something in her leg,” Bompastre told the Chelsea club website.

“At the moment it’s too early to say anything about LJ. We’ll have to assess her tomorrow in London and see how she feels.”

The Blues took an early lead in Enschede with a goal from Aggie Beaver-Jones before doubling their advantage before half-time with a stunning long-range shot from Maika Hamano.

Gro Reiten added a third goal from the penalty spot in the second half, scoring Chelsea’s 50th goal, before Niky van Dijk pulled one back for Twente in the 68th minute.

“We started the game strong. We scored very quickly and were efficient,” Bompastre said.

“We saw some good movement from the players. We just got the three points which was really important for me. Our main goal is to be at the top now.

“We also had the opportunity to rotate and manage some players, some of whom may be rested for Sunday’s (WSL) game (against Tottenham).

“It shows how much quality there is in the group and how much I trust everyone in the group.

“It’s good to have quality in the group and to be able to rotate and play every game with so much competition.”
