Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton looked good in practice Tuesday and is expected to start Saturday at No. 11 Iowa State, officials told ESPN.

He missed the second half of last week’s game against TCU due to a left shoulder injury. Texas Tech trailed by 17 points in the third quarter and lost to TCU 35-34. Morton spent the second half in street clothes with his arm in a sling.

Morton was considered questionable earlier this week, but a strong practice on Tuesday allowed him to start Saturday, according to officials.

Morton ranks 20th in the nation with 2,063 total passing yards. He threw 17 touchdown passes but had only three interceptions.

Texas Tech (5-3) had wins against Arizona State, Cincinnati and Arizona, but lost two straight after starting 3-0 in Big 12 play.

No. 11 Iowa State (7-0, 4-0) is one of the surprising undefeated teams in college football. They are coming off a bye week with wins over Iowa, West Virginia and home against Baylor.

Texas Tech has the No. 18 offense in the nation. Texas Tech star tailback Taj Brooks ranks third in the nation with 132.1 yards per game.
