From making history as the first Asian American to win an Olympic individual all-around gold medal in women’s gymnastics to making waves in the fashion world, Sunitha Lee is now turning to new venues and redefining her next chapter. are.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist recently hinted at a possible career shift as she steps into the spotlight in the fashion field. Lee, who took home one gold medal and two bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, celebrated her New York Fashion Week debut in a stunning Prada outfit.

With her beautiful ensembles at the recent Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Lee further showcased her fashion forward talent and captured the attention of the fashion world. At the show, she wore an elegant floral dress, and her outfit reflected the grace and strength she represents as an individual.

According to Inside Gym’s social posts, Lee is known for using costumes as an extension of her personality, and has even designed some of the leotards she wears in competitions.

“‘She’s fun, energetic, outgoing and very brave,’ Lee said when asked to describe herself. ‘But not many people understand that. There aren’t many, so I want to expand on that. I think fashion is a great way to express yourself,” according to an interview with Inside Gym.

This creative expression allows Lee to reflect her own experiences and emotions in her clothing, making each piece more than just a fashion statement, but a reflection of her journey. Lee’s commitment to self-expression through fashion becomes even more evident as she moves from the gym to the red carpet.

She pivoted to fashion after opening up about the physical and mental toll gymnastics took on her. Joining friend and teammate Simone Biles in the conversation about athlete mental health, Lee spoke about the challenges she has faced, including dealing with imposter syndrome and anxiety attacks.

In 2022, Lee opened up to ESPN about the intense training demands and pressures that come with being an elite athlete at just 21 years old.

The sport has also shaped her body, raising concerns about her physical health. According to Sportskeeda, she is worried about participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics due to the strain the sport takes on her body.

Lee is no stranger to overcoming adversity, battling two incurable kidney diseases before competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her resilience and strength shine through in her bold career moves and new endeavors.

According to Glamor magazine, Lee has already made bold strides in the fashion industry, working on beauty campaigns with brands such as Cotton x LoveShackFancy and L’Oréal.

As the first Hmong American Olympic athlete, she established herself as an incredibly versatile and accomplished gymnast, winning six Olympic medals. Now, her versatility extends beyond gymnastics, with a budding career in fashion.

As he begins a new chapter in his life, Lee attempts to redefine himself in the public eye and discover who he is outside of athletics.
