This ring provides a dual-purpose solution: monitoring fitness metrics and performing contactless transactions.

At Hong Kong FinTech Week 2024, Tappy Technologies announced Tappy Fitness Ring, a wearable device that combines health tracking and tokenized payment capabilities. Developed in collaboration with secure payment technology provider Thales, the ring offers a dual-purpose solution for monitoring fitness metrics and performing contactless transactions.

Tappy Fitness Ring tracks a variety of health metrics, including heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and activity data. In addition to fitness tracking, Ring can be tokenized with debit, credit and prepaid cards from associated card schemes, allowing secure contactless payments. Powered by Thales’ Secure Element chip, the feature allows users to make payments by tapping their ring on a compatible device.

Wayne Leung, CEO of Tappy Technologies, said: “We are introducing the world’s first tokenized payment and fitness ring, merging fitness tracking with secure contactless payment capabilities.” He pointed to Thales’ role in ensuring secure tokenized payments to users. Suboor Ahmed, chief operating officer of Tappy Technologies, added that the ring meets global payment standards and aims to provide users with easy-to-access fitness and payment tools.

The Tappy Fitness Ring features a water-resistant design and a long-lasting battery. When connected to the mobile app, users can see both their fitness data and transaction history.
