Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s Women’s Super League match against Aston Villa (kick-off 12:15 BST).
Here are the key lines from his press conference:
Regarding Vivian Miedema’s fitness, Taylor said: “I don’t think it’s an issue that would keep her out for two years.”
Taylor said Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over St. Polten in the Women’s Champions League showed the team’s “character”.
He said City had had a “good start” to the season with six consecutive wins, even though he thought “couldn’t have had a more difficult start”.
Asked if he saw any difference within the team from last season, Taylor said, “The players had fire in their bellies and an intensity in their demeanor.”
Aston Villa have “quality at the top end of the pitch” and “good options in the backline”.
He said Villa forward Rachel Daley was “always really difficult to play against”.
Mr Taylor said there was “never a good time” for an international holiday, but said the removal of the September international period was a “huge improvement”.
