COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team was led by individual champions Solomon Kipchoge and Juliet Cerbet on Friday morning at the Watts cross country course. The men’s team scored 62 points with a score of 1-2-7-11-41 and won the Arturo Barrios Invitational title.

Kipchoge crossed the end line with an 8km time of 22:01.40, followed by Ernest Cheruiyot in second place with a time of 22:20.40. Coach Vincent (22:38) finished in 7th place, Nathan Capel (23:01) in 12th place and Edwin Kiprono (23:40) in 43rd place overall. There were two runners within the 43-point range who were not involved in the scoring, which put Tech in 11th and 41st place.
Meanwhile, on the women’s side, Cerbet left no room for doubt this morning. She posted a 6km time of 18:37.00 and won by 24 seconds. In the process, she broke Parker Valby’s 2023 course record of 18:58.20. Throughout each split (2, 3.2, 4.1, 5.4) Cerbet never relinquished the lead.

Anastasia Chepkorir was the only Red Raider in the top 20, finishing 13th with a time of 19:41.80.

Texas Tech will take next week off and head to the Big 12 Championship in Waco, Texas on Friday, November 1st.
