LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) are off to a late-night kickoff against the Arizona Wildcats (3-1, 1-0 Big 12). did.

The Red Raiders enter the game with three straight wins and an undefeated start to the Big 12 Conference. Meanwhile, Arizona earned an upset victory over Utah on the road.

Texas Tech holds an all-time record against Arizona with 26 wins, 5 losses, and 2 draws. The two were common opponents in border conferences from 1931 to 1959.

A win would give Texas Tech its best start since 2013, when the Red Raiders won five of their first six games.

Tonight’s kickoff is at 10 p.m., making it the eighth game in program history to start after 9 p.m. The Red Raiders are 3-4 in their last seven starts.

Texas Tech will look to control the game with Taj Brooks in the backfield and keep Noah Fifita and Tetailoa McMillan off the field.

Fifita, a gunslinger from Arizona, and McMillan, who is projected to be a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, are the WiddleCats’ big hitters on offense.

The two attended Celte High School together and had great chemistry.

Defensively, Chuba Maae and Takario Davis are names to watch on Arizona’s defense. Davis will likely challenge guard-receiver Josh Kelly, the Red Raider’s pass-catching leader.

Texas Tech will have a bye week next Saturday, so Texas Tech’s next game after tonight will be at home against the Baylor Bears on October 19th.
