Recently,

SUNY

Morrisville

Norwich

students

prepared

for

their

history

research

project

by

touring

the

Chenango

County

Historical

Museum.

SUNY

Morrisville

Norwich

English

and

Communications

adjunct

Instructor

Michael

Foor-Pessin

said

the

students

in

his

“Introduction

to

Public

Speaking”

will

conduct

college-level

research

on

a

local

historical

topic

and

later

present

their

findings

to

members

of

the

community.

Students

Ethan

Guzewich,

Logan

Waters,

Kaitlyn

Finch

and

Cora

Ashcraft

chose

to

research

local

history

in

commemoration

of

the

250th

anniversary

of

the

signing

of

the

Declaration

of

Independence.

“My

hope

is

that

this

project

will

inspire

them

to

become

engaged

citizens

who

understand

how

our

history

influences

our

present

and

our

future,”

Foor-Pessin

said.

He

said

upon

arrival

at

the

museum,

they

were

greeted

by

Museum

Staff

Assistant

Madeline

Olesky,

Archives

and

Collection’s

Coordinator

Zac

Greenfield,

and

the

Historian’s

Assistant

Julie

Kupris.

The

students

began

taking

notes

as

Greenfield

shared

what

his

job

entails

and

the

educational

requirements

needed

for

his

job.
