The Sims 4’s Life and Death expansion definitely adds the coveted Grim Reaper career

In fact, The Sims 4’s “To beContinued” season follows the reveal trailer for the upcoming “Life and Death” expansion pack. This pack seems to be less about life and death and more about death and the afterlife, focusing on funerals, bucket lists, the Grim Reaper, and many afterlife options.

As usual, the accompanying Life and Death blog post doesn’t explain everything completely, but it does provide a fairly complete overview of the features. First, there’s a new world called Ravenwood, which has three unique districts. Sims can create a bucket list of goals and be reborn based on how many they accomplish, or stay there as a ghost with unfinished business. You can also plan for your death, including creating a will and naming heirs to family heirs and guardians for dependents. You can also host a customizable “grief ritual” event. On the other hand, those who are still alive can take on jobs as Grim Reaper’s assistants or undertakers.

There also appears to be a lot of new gameplay regarding ghosts. “Remain as a ghost and spend your afterlife helping or terrorizing the living,” says EA. “Ghosts grow in their abilities as they do everything from helping around the house to levitating living Sims and hanging them upside down (both fun and informative – potentially dropping Simoleons!). ”

It seems like ghosts are becoming their own occult sim category. I’m still betting that means you can create a ghost sim from scratch with “Create A Sim,” but the published post doesn’t exactly say that and instead says ” As your Sims adapt to the form of a playable Ghost Sim, they can customize their appearance with CAS.

The biggest concern I’m currently seeing from other players is regarding the funeral event. No one forgot how buggy weddings became after the “My Wedding Stories” pack, so be wary of how “life and death” will affect this completely different life milestone. Of course.

Admittedly, I almost got emotional watching that trailer, but I think that’s because of the music choice. If you’re curious, that track is “Nothing Matters” by The Last Dinner Party.

As always, you can expect Maxis to do a livestream showing everything else in the expansion later this month. “Life and Death” will be released on October 31st.
