Three-star linebacker Brennan Johnson announces commitment to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has added yet another recruit to its talented 2025 recruiting class.

Legacy player and three-star linebacker Brennan Johnson committed to Virginia Tech early Sunday afternoon.

Brennan is the younger brother of Virginia Tech defensive back Braylon Johnson and the son of Lauren Johnson, a current Virginia Tech defensive back and current coach and active member of the Virginia high school football system.

Lauren coached both of her sons at Highland Springs High School, where Brennan Johnson currently attends.

247Sports lists Brennan Johnson as a three-star recruit with an 87 rating.

He is ranked as the 99th best linebacker in the class of 2025 and the 30th best recruit in the state of Virginia by 247Sports. The 247Sports Composite ranks Johnson No. 1,450 in the nation and No. 40 as the best player to come out of Virginia.

As a junior, he recorded 18 lost tackles and three forced fumbles, helping Highland Springs finish the season 13-2 and being named Virginia Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year. It was.

Outside of soccer, he is also a track and field athlete. His times are 8.75 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles, 10.25 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, 11.89 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 19.25 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, 24.07 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and 40.66 seconds in the 300-meter dash. He scored 47.69 points in the dash and 300 meter hurdles.

Thanks to Johnson’s efforts, Virginia Tech is ranked No. 47 in the nation by 247Sports, passing Arizona State, North Carolina State and North Carolina State along the way.

Brennan will have the opportunity to wear a Hokies uniform alongside his older brother, joining a long list of brothers who played together at Virginia Tech.
