The 2024 Research and Discovery Week will feature a variety of conferences, workshops, lectures, and other activities open to the public and on display at the University of New Mexico. The week of November 8-15 is dedicated to showcasing UNM’s entire research enterprise while promoting the resources and opportunities available to all UNM researchers.

“November is becoming one of my favorite months of the year because we have begun a new tradition here on campus called Research and Discovery Week,” said UNM Vice President for Research Ellen Fisher. ”. “This is our third annual celebration, where we spend a full week celebrating our researchers and their contributions to the sciences, humanities, arts, and the world around us.This week, We look forward to seeing you at our featured event.”

This year, the celebration begins on Friday, as “iN-OV-8” on November 8th is National STEM/STEAM Day. This is a day established to highlight science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education as a critical investment in our future.

The UNM Office of the Vice Chancellor raises awareness of the impressive, sometimes surprising, and always inspiring research work that takes place every day on the UNM campus, while strengthening collaboration among communities and ultimately promoting research and innovation. We launched a research and development week in 2022 with the hope of contributing to diversification. , and the creativity that makes UNM a premier research institution.

This year will include a variety of events and opportunities for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. Also on Tuesday, Nov. 12, we will celebrate UNM’s three latest Grand Challenges. This is a great opportunity to visit the main campus and participate in research-focused conferences, workshops, lectures, and open houses taking place at UNM.
