U.S. News & World Report has named UVA Health Children’s, part of UVA Health, the No. 1 children’s hospital in Virginia for the fourth year in a row.
The news publication’s 2024-25 “Best Children’s Hospitals” guide ranks UVA Health Children’s eight specialties in the nation’s top 50, with comprehensive coverage provided by UVA Health Children’s pediatric specialists and care team. The emphasis is on quality care. The eight specialty dishes ranked are:

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals guide recognizes hospitals that provide excellent care for children with the most severe or complex medical needs. The publication’s criteria include patient outcomes, patient safety, and access to specialty clinics and programs, along with a national survey of pediatric specialists.

UVA Health Children’s continues to see more patients each year and has added inpatient beds and physicians to meet the growing needs of our community. For example, UVA Pediatrics has added 18 physicians over the past three fiscal years, and the new Pediatric Emergency Department at UVA Health University Medical Center added three more physicians last year. Additional specialized care for children and families will also be available soon with the opening of the UVA Health Children’s Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Clinic in partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. The clinic is expected to open in Albemarle County later this year.

UVA Health Children’s provides primary and specialty care in more than 30 specialties across the commonwealth and abroad. Located within the University Medical Center, UVA Health Children’s has 123 beds, a pediatric emergency department, a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit for infants, and a pediatric intensive care unit for children under 18 years of age. UVA Health Children’s Ambulatory Clinics in the Battle Building opened in 2014 and provides comprehensive outpatient care to families from across the region.
