Vice President Kamala Harris maintains a lead over former President Trump in Wisconsin, according to Wednesday’s poll, despite Trump’s lead on key issues.
The latest Marquette Law School poll shows Harris leading Trump 52% to 48%. The poll also found that voters care deeply about the election, with 46% of respondents saying they stopped talking to someone about politics because of the presidential election.
Marquette conducted the survey from Sept. 18 to Sept. 26 and surveyed 882 registered voters and 798 likely voters in Wisconsin. The poll touts a margin of error of 4.4%.
Despite trailing in polls, Trump leads Harris on the most important issues of the campaign, including border security, the economy and the response to the Israeli-Hamas war.

Mr. Trump maintains a significant lead over Ms. Harris on immigration, 49% to 37%. Meanwhile, 50% of Wisconsinites say she can handle the economy better than Harris, and the vice president’s approval rating stands at just 42%. Trump also holds a 45% to 33% lead on the Israeli conflict in the Middle East. When it comes to foreign relations more generally, he also has a narrow lead over Harris.

But Harris leads Trump on many other issues, including concerns about abortion and the election. About 53% of respondents said they trust Harris to handle the former, compared to 36% for Trump. Additionally, 49% said Harris would be better at ensuring a fair and accurate election, compared to 39% for Trump.

Wisconsin is one of a handful of battleground states likely to determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. Other states, such as Ohio and Pennsylvania, are also critical to a Trump or Harris victory.
New data from AARP shows that Pennsylvania is one of the nation’s closest races, with Harris leading Trump by a narrow 49% to 47% margin.

AARP’s poll was conducted among 1,398 likely Pennsylvania voters and has an overall margin of error of 4 percentage points.
