ADHA seeks to enable MHR interoperability
The Australian Digital Health Authority recently went to market to find a provider of FHIR server solutions as part of its efforts to modernize its My Health Record (MHR).
“The objective is to build internal technology platform capabilities and infrastructure integration that will enable MHR’s FHIR interoperability capabilities,” the request for bids states.
The contract value is estimated at A$45 million to A$50 million ($30 million to $33 million). The Agency also hopes that selected partners will provide continued FHIR interoperability support for components and systems of the future national digital health infrastructure.
Since 2022, ADHA has been working with HL7 Australia to accelerate the adoption of FHIR standards across the health system.
WA on finding an EMR vendor
The Western Australian Department of Health is also in the market looking for an organization to help roll out a state-wide EMR platform.
The state aims to have a fully functional EMR system by July 2029, as set out in the 10-year WA Health Digital Strategy. As described, an EMR is “both a medical record and a set of capabilities that support clinical care and workflow across a healthcare setting.”
WA has invested approximately A$150 million ($100 million) in the EMR project to date. The project is currently in Phase 1 and includes implementing digital health records with single sign-on technology and virtual desktop infrastructure throughout the state’s hospitals.

“This atlas highlights key indicators across health, education and social outcomes, empowering policy makers, researchers and community leaders to make data-driven decisions.” UWA Population Global Rebecca Grauart, project leader and associate professor in the School of Health, explained. .
UWA worked with Queensland University of Technology to develop the online tool.
