Bloomsburg Notes: Bloomsburg (2-4) weathered a difficult first-half schedule, held a fourth-quarter lead, lost close games to Warrior Run and Loyalsock, and trailed 4-2 with just a few plays left. Bloomsburg features a dangerous offense, with junior quarterback Wyatt Brocious rushing for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. Bloomsburg and Hughesville will meet for the fourth time in the past three years, with both road teams winning close games.
Bloomsburg Player to Watch – Ryan Shuman: The senior linebacker set the tone defensively and had outstanding performances against Warrior Run and Loyalsock, recording 33 tackles. Schuman also had six tackles for loss, three of which were against Warrior Run.

Hughesville writes: Hughesville (3-3) is in sixth place in the playoff standings and looking to earn the program’s first winning season since 2015. The Spartans had a tough battle against undefeated Lewisburg in Week 4, but they got within six points in the fourth quarter and blanked Mid. West next week. Quarterback Blake Davis rushed for over 1,000 yards and led District 4 with 17 touchdown passes for Mount Carmel last week. Connor Knight is tied for first in the district in catches (44) and his 10 touchdowns are the highest in the district. Carson Stackhouse and Brenden Fisher also scored multiple touchdowns. Running backs Jed Abarnatha and Luke Stutzman both had over 100 yards against Midwest, and Stutzman scored a touchdown for the fourth consecutive game. Fisher is averaging a team-high 11.7 tackles per game and has 12 tackles for loss. Chase Fowler is a close second with 11 tackles and five tackles for loss per game. Jerry Burton has had a sack in three consecutive games, and Chase Schrouder is one of four players with multiple sacks. Knight has three interceptions, nine over the past two seasons, and Levi Green returned an interception for a touchdown in a Week 2 win over Towanda. . Keegan Smith provided the X-factor at punter, averaging 41.2 yards per kick and landing seven of his 19 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Hughesville Player to Watch – Bryson Swisher: The senior nose guard has had a great impact in the past two games, making three tackles for a loss. Swisher recorded multiple tackles in all but one game and forced a key fumble in the season opener, 14-7, against Montgomery.
Outlook: This is like a coin toss game. The last three games in this series have been very competitive, with both games looking very evenly matched on both sides of the ball, so there’s little reason to believe tonight will be much different.
Northwest Montgomery (3-3) is one of the most improved teams in the district and has won three straight.
