The Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) host the New Orleans Saints (2-2) on Monday Night Football to close out their Week 5 NFL schedule. The Chiefs placed receiver Lachie Rice (knee) on injured reserve this week, meaning Kansas City will look to add tight end Travis Kelce and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy. The Saints started out as the hottest team in the NFL through two weeks, but lost the next two weeks. However, they covered last week’s loss to the Falcons (+2.5) and improved to 3-1 against the spread. Kansas City improved to -7 with last week’s win over the Chargers and is now 2-1-1 ATS.

Kickoff from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City is 8:15 p.m. ET. Kansas City, which opened at -7.5, is currently a 5.5 point favorite in the latest Saints vs. Chiefs odds from SportsLine Consensus, but the over/under for total points is 43, down from 45 in the opening round. . vs. Saints pick, be sure to check out the NFL predictions and betting advice from SportsLine Projection Model.

Why the Chiefs can cover

The Chiefs have had a number of injuries on the offensive line, but they still have quarterback Patrick Mahomes under center. Mahomes is known for his pinpoint accuracy, unconventional arm angles, and great arm strength. He is 11th in the NFL in passing yards (904) and tied for fifth in passing touchdowns (6). Last week, he was 19-of-29 for 245 yards and a passing score.

Running back Kareem Hunt returns to Kansas City to help out the backfield. Hunt has great vision for the ball and a solid arm as a pass catcher. Last week against the Chargers, Hunt had 69 rushing yards. In his career, the Toledo product has 1,906 receiving yards and 17 receiving scores. Worthy will likely get more opportunities in the passing game going forward. His game-breaking speed makes him a dangerous vertical threat. The Texas product uses open space to its advantage. So far, Worthy has nine receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns. In his last appearance, Worthy had three grabs for 73 yards and a score. Find out who you’re rooting for on SportsLine.

Why the Saints Can Cover

Running back Alvin Kamara is one of the league’s most dynamic weapons, but he has been limited in practice this week (ribs and lower back). Kamara has sticky hands out of the backfield, but he also has strong vision as a runner. The Tennessee product tied for second in the league in carries (80), fourth in rushing yards (362) and tied for first in rushing touchdowns (5). Kamara has totaled 110 scrimmage yards in every game this season.

Receiver Chris Olabe is also a difference-maker in the air attack. Olave runs crisp routes and has the speed to outrun defenders. In 2024, he has 20 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown. Find out who you’re rooting for on SportsLine.
