Carrie, Chili’s did it.
A frustrating 2023 season for Carey that saw him miss the 2023 World Championship led him to lean into what his teammate Biles preached.
“It was a pretty tough year leading up to the Olympics,” Carey explained. “So just having someone to talk to and find a solution and having that extra person in my corner to lean on was really helpful.”
The Olympic champion for the Tokyo 2020 floor in 2020 and the Paris 2024 team in 2024 says her natural instinct has always been to keep her many emotions to herself, but in recent years she has made it a point to prioritize her mental health. He said he recognized the benefits.
Similarly, fellow Olympic team champion Jordan Childs said that youth sports psychology didn’t sit well with him.
“When I was younger, I tried to see a sports psychologist, but being a young thinker, I’m like, ‘No, I can do everything myself.’ It’s okay,” Chiles said. Ta. “(Now) I say: ‘Find someone you can talk to, someone you can rely on.'”
That’s part of the evolution Biles has also experienced in recent years.
“I wish I had known before coming to Tokyo that everyone’s mental health journey is different. Yours may not be similar to your friend’s, spouse’s or other’s. Hmm,” Biles said. “Everyone’s mental health journey is different and unique.”
Thanks to Biles and company, everyone else can find out.
