Virginia Tech almost beat the No. 1 team in the ACC when the Hokies took the lead on the final play against the Miami Hurricanes.

Unfortunately, the Hokies were unable to find success and currently stand as the team tied for 6th place in the ACC, tied with Georgia Tech, Duke University, Syracuse University, Boston College University, University of Louisville, and Wake Forest University. are.

So where do the Hokies rank in other categories?

Virginia Tech lost one of its top recruits as four-star wide receiver Matthew Outten decommitted from Virginia Tech and committed to Penn State.

It was a huge loss that greatly affected the quality of the Hokies’ class.

Brent Pry’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks 10th in the conference, according to 247Sports. From highest to lowest ranked, the Hokies trail the University of Miami, Clemson, Georgia Tech, SMU, Duke, Syracuse, Stanford, Florida State and Pitt in the ACC.

Sixteen players competed with an average rating of 87.34 points by 247Sports.

Statistically, Virginia Tech doesn’t have the biggest offenders in the ACC.

The Hokies rank 11th in the ACC in yards per game with 375.2, 16th in the ACC in passing yards per game with 192.3, and fifth in the ACC in rushing yards per game with 182.8.

Virginia Tech’s defense is one of the best pass defense teams in the entire conference.

No team in the ACC averages more sacks per game or sacks quarterbacks more often than the Hokies.

Against Virginia Tech, the second-best team in the ACC, the team is averaging just 184.2 passing yards.

Meanwhile, the rush defense ranks among the lowest in the ACC. The Hokies allowed 170.8 rushing yards per game, second-most in the ACC, behind only Florida State’s awful defense.
