EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) — One man was killed and at least one other person was injured in a shooting at an El Monte sports bar overnight, authorities said.
El Monte police responded to reports of shots fired at the Silver Dollar Saloon on Lower Azusa Avenue around 12:09 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“Upon arrival, officers were directed to the store in reference to a gunshot victim,” the statement said. They entered the bar and found the victim lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased man was not immediately released.
Investigators confirmed a second shooting victim, a woman, was taken to the hospital before police arrived, authorities said. She was listed in stable condition.
Witnesses said a third shooting victim, another woman, left the scene, according to a news release. Investigators are currently searching for her.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
The gunman remained in place Saturday morning. A description of the suspect was not available.
