The latest vaccine against the currently circulating strain of the virus that causes coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is now available at pharmacies across Arkansas.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging all children 6 months and older to help prevent the potentially serious consequences of COVID-19 this fall and winter, including hospitalization, death, and long-term morbidity from COVID-19. It recommends that people get vaccinated in 2024-2025. Peak flu season is just around the corner, and Arkansans can often get their flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine in the same visit.
In September, the federal government reinstated a program that allows U.S. households to request free COVID-19 tests at home. Each household will be eligible for four free tests that can detect the currently circulating coronavirus variants. Request a test online at covidtests.gov.
