Headlining the NFL’s Week 6 injury report are several young stars who went down Sunday and one who could make a big impact in the NFL’s toughest division.
For the first time since the current divisional format was adopted in 2002, four teams in the same division won at least four games over six weeks. That division is the NFC North, home of the Detroit Lions, who suffered a blowout loss after a 47-9 win over the Cowboys. Speaking of the Cowboys, not all is well in Dallas either — at least when the team is playing at home, they are giving up nearly 40 points per game.
Here are some of the top NFL news coming out in Week 6.
Aidan Hutchinson expected to miss the rest of the season
The Lions’ pass rush specialist, who leads the NFL in sacks with 6.5, was carted off the field in Dallas on Sunday with what turned out to be a fractured tibia. He underwent surgery in Dallas and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Hutchinson recorded 11.5 sacks in 2023 and made his first Pro Bowl appearance last season.
Is Dallas’ passion for Mike McCarthy growing?
If you just look at the Dallas Cowboys’ road record this year, you’ll see that a 3-0 team, with some things to improve, has some close wins and even wins. You will understand. 4-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh. However, at home the Cowboys have been largely uncompetitive, completely trampled on their home turf in all but two quarters. The Cowboys have allowed 119 points in their three home games this season (39.7 points per game).
After the worst home loss of the Jerry Jones era, Jones, who coincidentally celebrated his 82nd birthday, said he was not considering a coaching change despite the questions surrounding Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys will have Week 7 off and play their next two games on the road.
Marvin Harrison Jr. suffers concussion in game against Packers
One of the NFL’s most exciting rookies stumbled and had to be sent off the field during the Arizona Cardinals’ 34-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Harrison couldn’t catch a pass when he was sidelined with a concussion, but he had four touchdown receptions and 279 receiving yards in the first six games of his rookie season.
