President Donald Trump praised Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier for a “great job” during an interview with 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Wednesday night, and urged him to take a cognitive ability test. However, he claimed that Mr. Baier “showed how completely incompetent Kamala is.” .

President Trump also joined the campaign, claiming the press conference was a disaster for Harris. During the interview, Harris and Baier exchanged a number of exchanges. At one point, when Baier interrupted her on the topic of immigration, Harris clapped back. “Can I finish replying now?”

Immediately after the interview aired, the campaign, particularly advisers Stephen Miller and Stephen Chan, criticized Harris’ response to X.

“Episode IV: Team Biden Strikes Back. Team Obama is out of bed, but now that Kamala’s interview is a fiasco, Team Biden feels emboldened,” Chan wrote. .

Meanwhile, Miller compared Harris’ interview to the sinking of the Titanic.

Trump followed this up Wednesday night by attending Truth Social after appearing with a group of undecided Latino voters at a town hall hosted by Univision Noticias.

“Great job by Bret Baier in his interview with lying Kamala Harris,” the former president wrote.

Trump also claimed that Harris suffered from “severe and incurable Trump Derangement Syndrome” and bragged that he spent most of his time talking about Harris.

“It’s so bad, in fact, that she can barely talk about anything other than me, the man with the greatest economy in history, the strongest border in history, and who just won the unanimous support of the U.S. Border Patrol!” ”

After saying a few more words about Harris, saying she was the “worst vice president ever” and “hopefully going to go away soon,” Trump again turned to congratulate Baier. It turned to

“Congratulations to Bret Baier for completing a tough but very fair interview that clearly showed how incompetent Kamala is. For the benefit of our country, we should immediately test her inferior cognitive abilities. You must!”

Harris’ camp clearly disagreed. Harris campaign spokesman Brian Fallon told Reuters: “We’ve made sure that we’ve achieved our goals in the sense that we’ve been able to reach an audience that perhaps hasn’t been informed of what she’s been advocating for on the campaign trail.” “We achieved this goal,” he said, expressing his confidence. He was also able to show his toughness in standing up to the hostile interviewer. ”

Fallon added, “I think there are quite a few independents and Haley-style Republicans who would be very willing to vote for Vice President Harris. That’s why we’re open to doing an event with Republicans on Fox News.” ” he added.

Mr. Baier defended his aggressive questioning style on Fox Wednesday night, claiming that Mr. Harris knew right away that “it was going to be difficult for me to get out of the way and change direction.” He added that Harris showed up late for the interview.

“There was a little bit of frustration,” Baier said in an interview with conservative personality Mark Levine, adding, “There was a lot of work to do.

“I was expecting some kind of internal exchange, but I’m glad she came out and I think she should do more. I was just trying to get the point across. But it took a while.”For a while, it was, you know, kind of pausing and catching your breath. ”

“They were hoping for a viral moment,” Baier suggested, reiterating how the initial period was cut short by the Harris campaign and Harris was allegedly late.

“I really wanted it to go the way I envisioned it, with kind of a conversation about the topic. ‘You guys have differences, this is where I’m at,’ and I was respectful.” I said this with all my heart. And I’ve done a lot of interviews where you can get a place and actually learn something about policy and where it stands, just by going back and forth, which is very beneficial. . So I thought the opposite might be possible. Perhaps this was meant to be a viral moment, but essentially this is a debate exercise, so I needed to be able to answer my questions as best I could in a respectful but tough way, and she I hope to come back when things calm down. You can learn more in a different and chatty atmosphere than usual. ”
