Audio-based fitness app WithU says a promotion with McDonald’s drove new users to the app, revealing an unlikely collaboration could spark interest in fitness.

What would happen if a fitness app and fast food giant McDonald’s teamed up? WithU, an audio-guided fitness app, has the answer. New app signups increased by 297%.

The audio-guided fitness app has teamed up with McDonald’s to become the prize partner for the fast food chain’s Power Peel promotion (running from 4 September 2024 to 15 October 2024), with McDonald’s Monopoly players in the UK taking home three prizes. You can earn. 1-month trial of the WithU Fitness app.

A unique partnership has paid off. In addition to a nearly 300% increase in signups, 95% of people who redeemed a WithU code went on to create an account. Most interestingly, the promotion resonates with fitness novices, with WithU reporting that over 83% of the workouts completed by new members who joined through the promotion were beginner-level workouts. That’s it.

“At WithU, we actively challenge the all-or-nothing approach to fitness often seen in the industry and are always striving to do things a little differently,” said Kaleigh, WithU CMO and Co-Founder. Scott said.

While Scott acknowledges that a partnership with a fast food brand may be unlikely for a fitness app, he suggests the results are a key indicator of an untapped market.

“The high conversion rate and surge in WithU sign-ups from this promotion proves that there is a key target customer segment who wants to prioritize health and fitness while enjoying life,” she added.

“This partnership with one of the UK’s largest and best-loved consumer loyalty marketing campaigns gives us a unique opportunity to increase our exposure among a large and diverse customer base, including first-time customers. We are therefore pleased to see this promotion connect successfully with our large entry-level customers as we move forward in our mission of giving the world a choice in fitness. It’s especially heartening to see.”

WithU has both a free version and a paid membership. This app includes over 1,500 voice workouts.
