On this episode of Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports’ senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill joins Bomani Jones to continue the conversation about the past week in the NBA.

The teams start with the champion Boston Celtics. The New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers are making significant changes to their rosters to catch up with Boston, but who is the bigger threat to winning this year’s Eastern Conference?

Who is the best player in the Eastern Conference? Maybe Jayson Tatum? And if not, why not Jayson Tatum, who has established himself as the best player on the league’s best team? Whether the Celtics can repeat that may determine what we think about the rest of Tatum’s career.

Moving on to the Western Conference, are the Los Angeles Lakers good enough to make the playoffs? They have the talent, but not enough to compete in one of the deepest conferences in NBA history. Maybe not. And in theory, adding Bronny James to substantial playing time during his rookie season shows that their priorities may be in the wrong place.

Finally, before letting Bomani go, Vinny wondered how Adam Silver’s commitment to greater parity in the NBA would match up with someone who has been watching the NBA closely for decades. Ta. We also asked Bo for his predictions for next season’s MVP, NBA Champion, and Finals matchup.
