Purdue University will convene top leaders from government, industry, and academia for the first Space Policy Symposium@Purdue on October 30 and 31 on the West Lafayette campus. Sponsored by the Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI), one of the Discovery Park District’s research institutes and centers, the symposium aims to support policy development around codes of conduct in space. It includes workshops and discussions.
This symposium grew out of conversations with Purdue alumni, including Brig. Admiral Kristin Panzenhagen of the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command and Rodney Miller of Lockheed Martin Corporation will discuss key topics including strategic messaging of space capabilities, partnering with allies, and strengthening government-industry relationships. This is an important opportunity for possible discussion.”
Participants will draw on their collective knowledge and experience to help identify knowledge gaps and identify potential next steps in research, partnerships, and policy development. The first day of the event will feature a keynote address and panel discussion featuring leading experts from the military, government, and private sector, and the second day will include workshops and A student case competition will be held with participants from universities. The symposium was designed in collaboration with military and industry leaders, Purdue faculty and staff across the Basic Research Institute, as well as the Office of Industrial Partnerships, the University of Paris, and the Crack Institute for Technology Diplomacy.
After the event, PPRI will lead the charge to produce a policy document and publish a brief for use by relevant stakeholders.
