Good sport: The fashion world’s love affair with sport, which turned hot and heavy during the Paris 2024 Games, remains strong and even attracts a dedicated publication.

Carine Roitfeld and her son Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, CEO of CR Fashion Book, have appointed Dwyane Wade as the first guest editor of the yet-to-be-named venture, which will launch in the first half of 2025.

It will feature a biennial magazine for men and women, as well as what CR describes as a “multidisciplinary platform” that will include e-commerce, exclusive brand collaborations, capsule collections and product drops from athletes and designers. It’s all-encompassing.

Content includes exclusive interviews, essays highlighting the synergy between fashion icons and sports legends, activewear trends, in-depth features on fashion-forward athletes, style tips from industry experts, and how sports are sports. It will include insights on how we can continue to impact the world. fashion.

“Fashion and sports are two powerful forms of expression that inspire millions of people around the world,” Roitfeld said in a statement shared exclusively with WWD. “We aim to create a space that celebrates this fusion and showcases the unique stories that emerge when these worlds collide.”

Her son added: “Our goal is to create a fresh, bold and exciting platform that builds a community of individuals who, like me, are as passionate about sport as they are about fashion. This new area is a natural fit for CR. By extension, but with a twist that appeals to a wider audience, we’re merging sport and style like never before, creating a brand that transcends categories while offering something truly distinctive. I’m making it up.”

Wade also appears on the cover of the latest issue of CR Men, which hits newsstands Monday, and issue 25 of CR Fashion Book, which has a “Love & Fantasy” theme.

In it, Wade commented: “For us as athletes, fashion has become a huge way to express ourselves. … I added color to my life. I wear pink pants; I wear pink pants. He came into the arena and got beaten up by TNT.

During his post-NBA career, Wade appeared in underwear ads for Versace and sold part of his designer wardrobe for charity.

He has a long relationship with the fashion industry. In 2012, he launched “A Night on the RunWade,” an annual event that raises funds to benefit the Wade Family Foundation. The event will feature a runway show with Miami Heat players modeling looks from Aventura Mall retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Designer Eyes and Kids Atelier.
