Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has bigger goals than winning his third MVP award. He might win anyway.
Jackson is the current favorite at +225 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is second on the odds list at +450.
Other players with odds above 10-1 are Bills quarterback Josh Allen (+500) and Lions quarterback Jared Goff (+850).
Voting actually takes place the day after Week 18 when the playoff tree is set. The quarterback from each conference’s top team will then be the de facto finalist to win the MVP award.
Ravens running back Derrick Henry, currently on pace to break the single-season rushing record, is a long way from being MVP at 40-1, but could end up taking votes away from Jackson.
Anyone interested in betting on the MVP award (might be more fun if you cut a dollar bill into a paper doll) should first figure out which team has the best chance of earning the top seed. You should think about it first. An MVP can come from there.
