“The results tell a story” – Williamson

“Results tell a story,” says Leah Williamson, but her confidence level hasn’t dipped because of Arsenal’s disappointing start to the season.

Manager Jonas Aidevall resigned last week after Arsenal lost to Chelsea, leaving them five points behind leaders Manchester City after just five games.

“I’m a football player. Our job is to win games and that hasn’t happened yet,” Williamson said.

“Results tell one story, but performance tells another story. We can really change and influence that every day.”

Williamson is currently in the England squad and is preparing for friendly matches against Germany at Wembley on Friday and South Africa next Tuesday.

“To be honest, I’m happy to be here in a different environment,” added the Lionesses captain.

“I think sometimes it comes at the right time. I haven’t had any contact with (my) club since I’ve been here and it’s very easy to part ways in that respect.”

“There’s no difference in the level of trust. I can talk about the environment, but the picture of the situation that we paint is potentially different than the roller coaster you describe.”

“We’re all footballers and we’re all dealing with different scenarios. Now we’re here with England and it’s a consistent environment. We’re back and it’s great.”
