It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, it’s not the Christmas season. Monday, October 28th was the sports equinox.

Stars and schedules align, with games played simultaneously in America’s four major sports leagues. Early NBA and NHL regular season games followed. There was “Monday Night Football.” There was Game 3 of the World Series. There was also an MLS playoff game on Monday night!

In a moment that can only happen at the sports equinox, all four of New York’s active teams (Yankees, Knicks, Giants, NYCFC) lost.

Here’s an overview of all the action from an incredibly jam-packed night of sports action.

MLB

Notable results: The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 to win Game 3 of the World Series and take a 3-0 lead.

The Dodgers took an early lead against the Yankees as Freddie Freeman opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning.

Notable Results: The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New York Giants 26-18 on Monday Night Football.

Beanie Bishop Jr. managed to hold on to an errant pass from Daniel Jones, clinching the Steelers’ 22nd straight Monday Night Football win.

NBA

Notable results: Paolo Banchero scored 50 points in the Orlando Magic’s 119-115 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Boston Celtics remain undefeated by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks 119-108. Nikola Jokic scored 40 points in the Denver Nuggets’ overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Cleveland Cavaliers remained undefeated by defeating the New York Knicks 110-104.

With 50 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, Magic star Paolo Banchero became the second-youngest player in NBA history at 50-10-5, behind LeBron James in 2005.

Notable results: Florida Panthers defeated Buffalo Sabres, 5-2. The Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Edmonton Oilers 6-1. The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Nashville Predators in overtime.
