Shalini Passi of Fabulous Lives vs. Bollywood Wives recently recalled how she learned to cook while making her favorite cauliflower salad on a chat show. “I don’t make time to cook anymore. The only thing I cook or bake is make-up. To be honest, I learned to cook when I was 20 or 21 years old. Someone once said to me, ‘My mom never taught me to cook,’ so I took it very seriously. Taking it personally, I learned Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisine, including Hyderabadi biryani. So now I don’t cook anymore because everyone is on a diet. My son needs the right amount. I eat what I need. 49, Added She loves “Kadi Chawal” and garlic.
Shalini stressed that, contrary to what many people believe, she does not do yoga (at least for the time being). “Actually, I don’t do yoga. I stopped doing yoga a while ago. I do meditation and breathing exercises, but I’m not actively doing yoga. I used to do it quite regularly,” Passi told Pinkvilla.
During our conversation, she mentioned that she likes cauliflower salad. “One of my favorite dishes is cauliflower salad. Salads aren’t always healthy, but this salad has nuts, black salt, bell peppers, all the vegetables and avocado, and oil and green apples.”

She also emphasized that she doesn’t have cheat meals. “I work out. I work out a lot. I don’t feel the need to eat cheat meals or sweets or drink drinks like tea, coffee, or alcohol. I don’t feel the need because I’m on a natural high, and I don’t need to eat sweets or carbs to feel that way. But if there’s something I really like, I’ll eat it.”
Take a cue from her and explore the connection between eating clean and reducing the need to cheat your diet.
Shalini’s diet and lifestyle reflect a highly conscious and disciplined approach to health, one that prioritizes clean eating, movement and mental balance over indulgences and quick fixes, as explained by consultant nutritionist Garima Goyal.
“Her preference for nutrient-dense salads with cauliflower and nuts, avocado, and vegetables demonstrates her emphasis on plant-based nutrition, healthy fats, and fiber. These ingredients support gut health, hormonal balance, and stable energy levels, making such a diet both nutritious and anti-inflammatory,” Goyal said.

The absence of cheat meals, sweet foods, or stimulants such as tea, coffee, or alcohol further indicates a consistent and conscious relationship with food.
According to Goyal, people who maintain this type of eating discipline often experience better metabolic regulation and mental clarity because they don’t fall into low-energy or emotional eating patterns.
“Her statements about feeling a natural high suggest that her energy and mood are maintained by balanced blood sugar levels, regular exercise, and perhaps a deeper mind-body connection developed through meditation and breathing exercises,” Goyal said.
