Everyone will learn to stop messing with Lizzo!
The “About Damn Time” hit singer has been addressing social media rumors while sharing her fitness journey with fans. On Friday (September 20), she responded to speculation from an Instagram follower who asked her if she was taking cocaine or Ozempic, a popular FDA-approved treatment for type 2 diabetes, to lose weight.
In a carousel post, Lizzo shared a video of herself smiling for the camera with the playful caption: “After 5 months of weight training and restricting calories, when the Ozempic allegations finally surfaced,” she wrote, accompanying the video with a soundtrack of Christoph Waltz’s character in Django Unchained saying, “Like a treat.”
She also posted a screenshot of a comment from a follower asking, “Did she use Ozempic or snort cocaine?” Lizzo sarcastically captioned the post, “‘Ozempic or cocaine?’ – Fan,” before bluntly replying to the follower, “Why are you following me?” Check out the Instagram post below.
In May, Lizzo opened up about her fitness journey, stating that her goal was “not to get rid of my weight,” and in a TikTok video, she said that once she “started working out for my mental health,” exercise became a way to “change my mind.”
“My job is very high performance,” she continued, “I have to choreograph, sing, dance, rap, play the flute and interact with the audience for 90 minutes every night, all while wearing tight, sometimes restrictive clothing.”
She added: “It’s fun. I love my job. But my job requires a lot of physical fitness. I used to live the rock star lifestyle, shaking my body on stage. As I’ve become more professional in my work, I’ve started taking the physical aspect of it a lot more seriously.”
