The biggest game of the season (so far) is coming up.

On Saturday night, No. 2 Georgia will play No. 4 Alabama in the first top-five matchup of the season. This is the last of four ranked matches for a loaded week 5.

The biggest matches of the day are: Let’s take a closer look at all the actions below.

Time: 3:30pm | TV: Peacock | Line: Notre Dame -6 | Total: 45.5

The Cardinals defeated the Irish at home a season ago. And it’s fair to wonder if Louisville will be better this season than it will be in 2023. Former Oregon State and Texas Tech QB Tyler Schau has been very good so far this season, completing over 68 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Notre Dame is still going to rely on Riley Leonard’s aerial game to complement its dominant run game through four games, despite injuries on the offensive line.

Time: 7:30pm | TV: NBC | Line: Penn State -18 | Total: 47.5

Illinois defeated previously undefeated Nebraska in overtime in Week 4, marking the third time since 1951 that Illinois has won its first four games. A big reason for that is the improved play of former Ole Miss QB Luke Altmaier. Can he keep it up against Penn State on the road? Against the Nittany Lions, opposing quarterbacks averaged just 144 yards per game.

Time: 7:30pm | TV: ABC | Line: Georgia -1.5 | Total: 48.5

This matchup of teams that make the playoffs every year features two Heisman candidates at quarterback. No quarterback has scored more touchdowns per game than Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, but Carson Beck spent much of the offseason as a candidate for the award. Beck’s 2024 season has yet to live up to the Heisman hype, but it wouldn’t be one bit of a surprise if Beck had a big game.

Time: 10pm | TV: FS1 | Line: Boise State -7.5 | Total: 64.5

Washington State is off to a 4-0 start, including wins over Texas Tech and Washington, and is on the precipice of the AP Top 25, anchored by QB John Matthia. However, the Cougars’ defense is allowing nearly 5 yards per carry. That’s a mouth-watering statistic for Boise State running back Ashton Giunty, who leads the nation with an average of 10.5 yards per carry. There’s a reason he’s the non-QB with the best Heisman odds (+2000) at BetMGM.

Intercept K-state!

OSU quarterback Alan Bowman threw his third interception of the game, this time to KSU’s Jacob Parrish, who made a nice contested pick in the end zone.

Saturday, September 28, 2024, 2:14 PM EDT

Ole Miss ties it up.

The Rebels had possession at the start of the second half and the score was tied at 10-10.

The Wildcats’ game plan is clear so far. Run, run, run some more. Will the possession game be enough to beat Ole Miss in Oxford, or will they have to go aerial to survive?

Saturday, September 28, 2024, 2:11pm EDT

Touchdown Kansas!

After a quick three-and-out by OK State, Kansas State took over and DJ Giddens ran through the OSU defense for a 66-yard touchdown.

Just two minutes into the second quarter, Giddens had 153 rushing yards and the Wildcats led 28-13.
