Auburn football gained confidence after defeating Kentucky on the road last Saturday night for its first SEC win of the season.
The Tigers’ stock has been on the rise since the win over the Wildcats, especially with USA TODAY Sports’ weekly rerankings. Auburn ranks 84th this week, up six spots from 90th last week.
Auburn is one of 19 teams to move up at least five spots in Paul Meyerberg’s rankings this week. North Carolina State made the biggest jump of the week, moving up 16 spots to No. 63 after defeating Virginia 41-14 on the road last Saturday. Oklahoma State suffered the biggest drop, losing 10 points to Baylor in its last game, dropping 21 spots.
Auburn’s next opponent, Vanderbilt, moved up one spot to No. 36 despite losing at home to Texas last Saturday. The Commodores defeated Texas 114-104, but were unable to steal a victory from the No. 6 Longhorns, losing 27-24.
The Tigers look to continue their momentum this Saturday when they host Vanderbilt in their first home game since Sept. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Central Time and will be available to watch on SEC Network.
