SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, Abela has teamed up with local gyms to promote fitness in the fight against breast cancer.
Fit Body Boot Camp in Sioux Falls offered two free workout classes and provided participants with valuable education about breast health.
“It is recommended that people exercise between 150 and 300 minutes a week, which significantly reduces the risk of developing breast cancer. How to boost your workout and reduce your risk of breast cancer this month , what better way than to partner with a gym in town,” said Tara Kokorek, Avera Director of Breast Health.
The event started last year and is called “Self Care Saturday.”
“We have never done self-care on a Saturday or started a workout in a presentation style and then jumped right into the workout, but I have to tell you how great this event was. I am very much looking forward to continuing this event.”This is the “CJ National Defense Force.”
The best way to prevent breast cancer is early detection. This event encourages at-risk people to get an annual mammogram.
