After years of uncertainty surrounding the fate of the Bally Sports regional sports network, a new company has come forward to lend its name to the channel.
Bally Sports Network will be named after FanDuel “as early as next week,” according to a Wednesday report from Awful Announcer’s Daniel Kaplan, citing Diamond Sports Group’s recent bankruptcy court filing. The name will be changed to
Diamond Sports Group is the current operator of Bally Sports. It declared bankruptcy in March 2023.
According to Kaplan, the company’s motion states that “the Debtor designates FanDuel as the exclusive integration partner in certain sports betting and related online wagering/gaming categories across the RSN Services, and “Provides remarkable integration.”
During the bankruptcy process, six MLB teams, four NHL teams, three NBA teams, and several college conferences and tournaments left Diamond Sports. In particular, it has shaken the financial foundations of MLB, and by 2025, only Atlanta Braves games will be broadcast on the Diamond Sports network.
