Bills reportedly ‘monitoring’ Davante Adams situation

The clock is ticking on a potential trade for Davante Adams. And the Raiders continue to owe the receiver more than $983,000 each week.

TheAthletic.com recently reported that the Jets, Saints and Steelers remain interested. The report says the bill is “monitoring” the situation.

Other teams, including the Cowboys, Ravens and Chiefs, either backed out or had no interest at all.

The bill continues to make the most sense. They don’t have a clear No. 1 receiver. Adams would fill that hole right away.

The Raiders still hope to acquire a second-round draft pick. (Others have reported wanting more; we’ve heard they can get there with two.) To get there, the Raiders will need most of their remaining salary, 1,219 entering Week 6. You may have to pay $8,000.

If they pay a portion of his salary, the Raiders will likely turn most of it into a signing bonus. You don’t have to pay the entire amount in one go right away. They could be paid in weekly installments throughout the season.

In reality, they end up paying the full amount without a deal. His salary in 2025 will reach $35.64 million, but it will be cut after the season rather than traded.

Therefore, the Raiders have three weeks and six days to trade him. If he waits until the deadline, he will be owed an additional $3.75 million before being traded.

Waiting isn’t cheap. However, as the games go on week after week, teams that aren’t currently interested may become interested. Or the teams currently interested could become desperate.

All it takes is one injury (to one of the four teams interested or another) and everything changes.
