You’ve probably already seen the report, which covers a wide range of tourist arrivals data for destinations around the Caribbean, as well as outlook for the key travel season ahead.

Destinations throughout the region rely on the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s extensive tourism research, which covers the macro and micro trends that shape the Caribbean’s most important economic drivers.

And now the CTO has appointed industry veteran Aliyyah Shakeer as the new executive to lead research advancement.

CTO’s new Director of Research will lead the Barbados-based organization’s research initiatives and develop data-driven strategies to contribute to improving tourism competitiveness in the Caribbean.

“We are thrilled that Aaliyah Shaker will be joining our team as director of research,” CEO and CTO Executive Director Donna Regis Prosper said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “Her extensive experience in tourism research and strategy development will be invaluable as we work towards a more competitive and sustainable Caribbean tourism industry.”

Shaker takes on the role of CTO after previously serving as planning and research manager for the Trinidad Tourism Development Corporation and tourism research analyst for the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Tourism.

She most recently served as International Technology Relations Coordinator for Trinidad’s Ministry of Digital Transformation.

“I am excited to join the CTO team and contribute to the development of the region’s tourism sector,” said Shaker. “I look forward to supporting our member countries and the region as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of today’s dynamic tourism industry to ensure the Caribbean remains a leading global tourism destination for many years to come.”
