It will be nearly impossible for Week 7 to match the chaos of Week 6, but this slate is packed with exciting matchups.

It features the first matchup of the season between the top three ranked teams, with the nation’s No. 1 team playing in a prestigious neutral-site rivalry. The day should be full of energy.

Here are the matchups we’ll be watching closely on Saturday: Follow all the action live below.

Time: 3:30pm | TV: ABC | Line: Texas -14.5 | Total: 50.5

Both teams will enter a Cotton Bowl rivalry game during the bye week off. After the Alabama loss, the Longhorns moved into first place in the AP Top 25 with Quinn Ewers returning to the starting lineup. True freshman Michael Hawkins will start for the second consecutive game for Oklahoma. For the Sooners to pull off an upset, Hawkins has to be great and the run game has to get back on track.

Time: 3:30pm | TV: CBS | Line: Penn State -5.5 | Total: 50.5

This game took some of its luster off after the Trojans lost to Minnesota last week. This dropped them out of the top 25 and cost them any chance of winning the Big Ten. But it could still be a dangerous game for Penn State. Penn State’s offense was much better in 2024 after an offseason coordinator change, with the defense scoring 12 points or less in four of five games.

Time: 7:30pm | TV: NBC | Line: Ohio State -3.5 | Total: 52.5

This weekend’s featured matches should be great. Opposing defenses have yet to figure out OSU’s two-headed rushing attack and passing game that features all-world freshman Jeremiah Smith. If the game comes down to quarterback play, Oregon State could have an advantage. Will Howard has been solid for the Buckeyes, but Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel led the nation in completion percentage, throwing for 1,449 yards.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Ole Miss -3.5 | Total: 63.5

This game has all the elements of a gunfight. The Rebels are averaging 44 points per game, while LSU is scoring over 35 points per game. QB Jackson Dart has already thrown for 2,100 yards, and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier has thrown for 1,652 yards and 15 TDs through five games. The Tigers had Week 6 off, and the Rebels bounced back from their first loss with a big win over South Carolina.

Time: 10:15pm | TV: ESPN | Line: Kansas State -4 | Total: 56.5

Kansas State is a good measuring stick for an improved Buffaloes team. The team has already matched its win total from 2023 and is two wins away from bowl eligibility. Colorado’s biggest challenge will be its defense up front. The team is averaging over 150 rushing yards per game against the Buffaloes, with KSU running back DJ Giddens and QB Avery Johnson each averaging 7.3 yards per carry.

Touchdown for Texas!

Longhorns running back Quintrevion Wisner had a 36-yard run deep inside Oklahoma territory, but was stripped just short of the goal line. Luckily for him, teammate Silas Bolden saved him by jumping on the ball in the end zone and scoring.

After the dramatic touchdown, Texas was up 14-3.

Penn State takes a FG

The Nittany Lions pulled off a great drive that was hard to come by, but it ended in a 33-yard field goal.

Late in the second quarter, USC still led 17-6.

The Trojans are all over Pennsylvania until Desman Stevens II targets PSU’s Drew Aller.

USC has already taken over deep into PSU territory.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:33 PM EDT

Touchdown for Texas!

Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers finds Gunnar Helm on a well-designed screen pass near the goal line, and from there the tight end does the rest of the work.

7-3 Texas.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:32 PM EDT

Arizona leads BYU early.

Meanwhile, Arizona is first on the board in Provo. No. 14 BYU is one of four remaining teams in the Big 12 to be undefeated in conference play starting this week.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:29 PM EDT

USC Touchdown!

Quinten Joyner enters the end zone for the second time today, this time on a 9-yard pass from Miller Moss.

It was a quick and effective 89-yard touchdown drive for the Trojans, who were looking to upset Penn State.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:26 PM EDT

As the second quarter begins, USC is on the move again and the ball is in Penn State territory.

The Trojans still lead No. 4 Penn State, 7-3.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:24 PM EDT

Oklahoma takes the lead.

Tyler Keltner made his second field goal attempt, this time from 42 yards, giving the Sooners three points.

It’s also notable because it’s the first time Texas has trailed this far this season.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:16 PM EDT

No points yet against Red River, but the Sooners are now driving through the midfield.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:07 PM EDT

USC Touchdown!

The Trojans quickly responded to Penn State’s FG with Quinten Joyner’s 75-yard TD run.

A tricky play using a fake reverse there. USC takes the lead.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 4:03 PM EDT

Penn State takes the lead with a field goal.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the Nittany Lions had just had a touchdown called back after being called for an offensive pass interference penalty on a scoring play.

PSU took up more than half of the first quarter with a 14-play drive, but would be disappointed as they had to settle for a field goal.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 3:56 PM EDT

Oklahoma misses FG

The Sooners were in great position to pick up points early against Red River Rivalry following a Quinn Ewers turnover, but the drive stalled and kicker Tyler Keltner missed a 44-yard field goal. I removed it.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 3:51 PM EDT

Intercept Oklahoma!

Quinn Ewers made a big mistake early in his return after missing three weeks with an injury. The Texas QB sent a pass over the middle and Oklahoma’s Billy Bowman Jr. picked it off.

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 3:47 PM EDT

USC-PSU and Oklahoma-Texas are on the way, but you can’t advance to the afternoon slot without acknowledging the UNC-Georgia Tech finish.

Georgia Tech defeated North Carolina State with the game tied and time running out. The Yellow Jackets called an easy inside run to drain the clock and send the game into overtime…well…

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 3:27 PM EDT

Finals: Alabama 27, South Carolina 25

Saturday, October 12, 2024, 3:24 PM EDT

Alabama INT wins!

The Crimson Tide survives when South Carolina QB Lanoris Sellers throws an interception in the end zone, ending the game. It took the Shamcox three plays to get within field goal range, but they couldn’t muster anything and Alabama won.
