Week 9 featured five games featuring AP Top 25 teams against each other, but this time there were no shocking results or epic moments like in previous weeks.
Saturday was mostly chalky. No. 12 Notre Dame took advantage of six turnovers by No. 24 Navy and won 51-14. No. 4 Ohio State and No. 13 Indiana erased any upset fears by staying in the Big Ten battle at home. After that, No. 1 Oregon, No. 3 Penn State, and No. 5 Texas followed suit.
The most important result of the day was No. 14 Texas A&M’s 38-23 victory over No. 8 LSU, which moved the Aggies to 5-0 in SEC play and the sole lead in the conference standings.
Otherwise, Saturday looked like a showcase of personal accomplishments. Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith became the first freshman in 19 years to catch a touchdown in each of his first seven games, and Oregon State’s Dillon Gabriel moved into second place all-time in touchdowns. I’ll pass.
