Week 4 of the college football season marks the opening week of conference play for many teams, and judging by the game schedule, it shouldn’t disappoint.

Clemson opened the game by thoroughly dominating conference rival North Carolina State, scoring 45 points in the first half on its way to an easy win and proving it can go toe-to-toe with Miami for the ACC lead.

There were some historic moments in the early going, too: James Madison scored the most points ever in a first half against North Carolina, 70-50, in a major upset. (North Carolina had never allowed that many points in a first half until Saturday.) Then Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo booted a 64-yard field goal, the longest kick in 16 years, just one yard shy of tying Martin Gramatica’s record.

Later in the evening, No. 18 Michigan beat No. 11 USC in a way that only the Wolverines can, essentially winning on the ground. In another ranked-versus-ranked game, No. 12 Utah held off No. 14 Oklahoma State for a Big 12 win despite Utah quarterback Cameron Rising missing another game.

Here are the winners and losers from Week 4 of college football.

Read on to find out about the rest of the day’s events.
