Manager Steve Cooper knows that results are paramount for Leicester and will refuse to hide now or in the future.
But he insisted that talk of being confident of success is meaningless until results are seen. He understands that he has to focus on the here and now.
He remained in good spirits at Thursday’s pregame press conference, speaking of honesty and integrity and how “real people” show through difficult times.
Cooper and his staff have been talking to players this week about taking collective and individual responsibility ahead of Saturday’s visit to Bournemouth.
Two years ago, Nottingham Forest’s side lost a 2-0 lead at home to the Cherries and lost 3-2, ending a nine-game winless run that ended with a 1-0 win at Liverpool. It became a department.
Cooper had been here before and enjoyed success, but Forest ultimately stayed on at the expense of Leicester that season.
The Foxes are close to making a breakthrough, but it needs to happen soon. And fans will be forgiven for looking forward to his games, including against Southampton and Forest, after the international break.
Cooper remains confident but the result will determine the atmosphere at the King Power Stadium.
