The New York Mets are officially on the brink after another dominant performance as the Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 4 Thursday, 10-2. The Dodgers hold a 3-1 series lead and are on the verge of advancing to the World Series for the fourth time in the past eight seasons, but unless the Mets can produce a winning offense, they will lose with 27 outs remaining. There is a possibility. Game 2 7-3. In the first four games of the series, Los Angeles outscored New York 30-9.

In Game 5, the Dodgers will have Jack Flaherty on the mound, with the right-hander looking to continue his postseason success (1-1, 2.92 ERA, 8 SO, 12.1 IP). Meanwhile, the Mets have high hopes for left-hander David Peterson, who had a solid performance in New York in a brief appearance in October (1-0, 2.08 ERA, 5 SO, 8 IP). 2).

Mets 11, Dodgers 6

The Mets got some breathing room on Jeff McNeil’s sacrifice fly with Starling Marte’s double. Citi Field can breathe a little easier.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 7:28 PM EDT

The Dodgers are holding Brent Honeywell to three innings. They may be closing in on a shocking comeback grand slam, but the bigger priority still appears to be trying to keep their top bullpen arms for Game 6.

Mets 10, Dodgers 6

Interesting… Mookie Betts leads off with a home run off Ryne Stanek in the 6th inning. It could be a tense few innings at Citi Field.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 7:17pm EDT

Brent Honeywell went 1-2-3 in the fifth inning, throwing four pitches. Momentum is now on the Dodgers’ side, but the question is whether the goal is already too far.

Andy Pages is the first Dodgers rookie to hit multiple home runs in the postseason.

Mets 10, Dodgers 5

Interesting…Andy Pages hit his second home run of the day with his second bat flip of the day, and the game was getting closer. You still want to be in the Mets’ shoes, but today is no longer a casual day at the office.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:59 PM EDT

Quique Hernandez was hurt by a 97.1 mph sinker to his right bicep from Reed Garrett, but he held on.

Some fans at Citi Field enjoyed watching it after Honeywell’s two HBPs.

What’s interesting about this game for the Mets is that the rest of this series doesn’t go well for the Dodgers. Unless they want to start both Walker Buehler and Yoshinobu Yamamoto on short breaks in Games 6 and 7, Game 6 will likely be a bullpen game with Sean Manaea, who was great in Game 2.

And in Game 7, Buehler or Yamamoto vs. Luis Severino, I don’t know what will happen. This was a rather important game for the Dodgers, who opted to start Flaherty instead of playing a bullpen game today.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:50 PM EDT

Mets 10, Dodgers 2

Brandon Nimmo’s sac fly completely reversed the score in Game 4.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:48 PM EDT

Brent Honeywell Jr. also hits Tyrone Taylor. These are definitely not intentional, but today he is not making friends with the Mets.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:45 PM EDT

Mets 9, Dodgers 2

Jesse Winker hit a triple and Pete Alonso came alive to score from first base. The Mets had no outs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Dodgers are currently trying to get through this game without using their top reliever.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:43 PM EDT

Brent Honeywell Jr. will take over Flaherty’s mop-up duties in the fourth game. He hit Pete Alonso with a 93 mph fastball on his second pitch.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:39 PM EDT

This is a big opportunity for the Dodgers. When Freddie Freeman aimed for a full count, Reed Garrett simply caught the outside corner with a curveball, minimizing the damage from Pages’ fourth home run.

It may have been very bad for the Mets, but they were still up big in Game 5.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:37 PM EDT

The Dodgers’ 35 walks are the most walks in five postseason games.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:33 PM EDT

Then, David Peterson walked Teoscar Hernandez, with two outs and the bases loaded. The Mets pull him after 79 pitches (his first time throwing 50 or more pitches since September 29) and bring in Reed Garrett to face Freddie Freeman.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:30 PM EDT

Shohei Ohtani hit a single and Mookie Betts followed with a walk. The Mets probably don’t want the Dodgers back in this game.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:29 PM EDT

There was also a lively discussion after the home run. It might have something to do with Pages flipping the bat.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:27 PM EDT

Mets 8, Dodgers 2

Andy Pages doesn’t care about the score. The Dodgers’ rookie No. 9 hitter hit a 418-foot home run to center field, cutting the lead to six points.

Friday, October 18, 2024, 6:19 PM EDT

At the end of the third inning, the Mets had scored five points and were in complete control. The Dodgers’ offense scored over eight points yesterday, and they may be ready to win this series at home.
