CAMBRIDGE — East Liverpool got back on track Friday with a commanding 41-7 victory over Cambridge.
The Potters improved to 2 wins and 4 losses, while the Bobcats slumped to 0 wins and 6 losses.
Cambridge has now lost 17 games in a row.
East Liverpool scored on two long pass plays in the first quarter and added a long drive in the second to take a 21-0 lead at halftime.
East Liverpool added two touchdowns in the third quarter, one on a long pass play and the other on a long run by QB Gavin Wright.
East Liverpool gained 554 total yards, including 254 through the air and 300 on the ground.
Isaiah Mayle scored Cambridge’s only touchdown on a 76-yard punt return.
East Liverpool will play Edison next Friday.
Valley 46, Wellsville 14
WELLSVILLE — Valley Christian used a 20-0 run in the third quarter to break up a close game and defeat Wellsville 46-14 in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game on Friday.
The Eagles scored on a fourth-down pass late in the first half to make it 19-7 at halftime.
Valley increased its lead to 33-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Eagles won five straight games, moving up to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the EOAC, tying them with United for first place. The Tigers fell to 1-5 and 1-2 in league play.
Wellsville hosts East Palestine on Friday and Valley hosts Lisbon next Saturday.
South 44, East Palestine 21
EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine led 7-0 after the first quarter and Southern scored 37 points to win 44-21 in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game on Friday.
Southern improves to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the EOAC, one game behind league leaders United and Valley Christian. East Palestine suffered two consecutive losses, falling to 3 wins, 3 losses, and 1 win, 2 losses in the EBC.
The Indians led 22-7 by halftime and 37-7 into the third quarter.
East Palestine took the lead in the fourth quarter and added a touchdown run late in the game.
Both teams return to league play next Friday, with Southern hosting Columbiana and East hosting Palestine in Wellsville.
