The New Jersey Department of Workforce Development (NJDOL) today announced a Notice of Grant Opportunity to provide funding to organizations that can provide career coaching and services to New Jerseyans looking to achieve their career goals.
The grant is part of “Fund My Future” (FMF), a transformative pilot program that helps eligible New Jersey residents achieve their life-changing career goals by providing financial assistance for upskilling and education. Selected organizations will work with program participants to develop Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs) tailored to their specific career development needs. Participants will be partnered with professional career counselors to help them navigate the evolving job market.
“This grant will create valuable opportunities for underserved New Jersey residents,” said Gov. Phil Murphy, “enabling them to overcome barriers to meaningful employment and making New Jersey’s economy more equitable for everyone.”
Grant applicants include nonprofit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and higher education institutions. Grantees must work with residents whose household income falls below the ALICE (Asset Limits, Income Limits, Employment) guidelines. Grantees receive funding contingent on meeting the grant’s performance indicators and expenses.
“Fund My Future will help New Jersey workers who struggle to stay competitive gain marketable skills today that will lead to the careers of the future,” said Labor Commissioner Robert Asaro Angelo. “This initiative will be a starting point for individuals who want to redefine themselves in the workplace and change the trajectory of their careers and their lives.”
FMF is designed to facilitate financial support for participants by grant recipients making payments directly to service providers. Participants can use FMF funds for job training, supportive services, and other expenses that help them seek meaningful employment.
The Fund My Future program was born out of recommendations from Governor Murphy’s Future of Work Task Force. The program was built on the idea of empowering participants to drive their own career development by helping them secure the training and support services they need to find a path to sustainable employment.
