A Spirit of Children event was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. The annual event is run by Spirit Halloween Store and Child Life and provides costumes, crafts and giveaways for patients.
Spirit of Children Reaches $1 Million Milestone in Support of Penn State Health Children’s Hospital
Patients at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital enjoyed a Halloween celebration today thanks to the Spirit of Children. Featuring costumes, games, crafts and more, the event brought smiles and excitement to children and their families.

The Halloween celebration also recognized the notable accomplishment of Spirit of Children, which recently surpassed $1 million in donations to children’s hospitals. Since 2009, Spirit of Children has raised a total of $1,033,981 to support the hospital’s Child Life Program. The fund has helped provide age-appropriate programs, hire staff, enhance educational resources, and purchase sensory tools to help support the emotional and psychological well-being of young patients.
“The Spirit of Children’s Halloween Party brings smiles and provides much-needed joy and a sense of normalcy to those facing medical challenges. Child Life at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital As a proud sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network, we have witnessed the many ways this program helps heal,” said Katie Anderson, Director of Children’s Miracle Network.
Since its founding in 2006, Spirit of Children has raised more than $127 million for child life departments at more than 150 affiliated hospitals across North America. Donations raised at the Spirit Halloween Store stay within the local community, with all funds supporting Child Life programs.
