IMSA seized seven of the 11 GTP cars that participated in Sunday’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to undergo extended technical inspection.
The two-day process will begin Monday morning and conclude Tuesday afternoon at IMS, as confirmed to teams in a competition bulletin following the conclusion of Sunday’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.
This includes the winning No. 24 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8 and at least one car from each of the five GTP manufacturers.
An IMSA statement said: “Following the conclusion of the Battle on the Bricks, IMSA impounded select GTP cars and extended post-race technical inspection from Monday through Tuesday.
“The vehicles that were seized are: No. 24, No. 6, No. 85, No. 40, No. 5, No. 01 and No. 63.”
“Periodicly, such as after the 24 Hours of Daytona in January, IMSA conducts extended technical inspections as due diligence to ensure technical compliance.
“Race results will remain provisional until these inspections are completed. IMSA is committed to providing close, competitive racing for our fans and a fair and level playing field for manufacturers and competitors.”
According to the notice, items subject to additional inspections include body and floor parts, brake and cooling systems, electronic devices and suspension.
Official results will be released once the full testing process is complete.
