Chongqing – On September 27, the High Quality Development Research Tour visited Dazu and Tongliang districts, where journalists investigated local strategies to promote economic growth and improve social welfare.

Dive deep into the cultural assets of Oashi

The first stop is Dazu Stone Carving Cultural and Creative Park, established in 2019 to commemorate the rich heritage of Dazu Stone Carving, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park focuses on the development of four main industries: sculptural arts, crafts, digital cultural innovation, and cultural tourism. Covering an area of 8 square kilometers, of which 3 square kilometers have already been developed, the park boasts a modern industrial infrastructure that supports a variety of cultural activities.

During the visit, journalists were introduced to the park’s major initiatives. According to Duan Yong, chairman of Dazu Stone Carving Association, “Sanqu Park is continuously promoting the industrialization of rock and jade carving, which has brought great benefits to residents. Many processes have been automated. However, delicate work such as sanding is still carried out by local workers, who can work close to home.”This is a dual commitment to the park’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and creating local jobs. It reflects our efforts.

The results speak for themselves. The park has attracted 12 major sculpture companies and employs approximately 24,000 cultural industry professionals. In the first half of 2024, it generated an industrial output value of 900 million yuan, achieving a year-on-year growth of 119.5%. These numbers highlight the impact parks have on local economies and their role in fostering cultural pride.

Power Up: Copper Liang Energy Revolution

The tour then moved to Tongliang District, focusing on the district’s dynamic energy sector. Tongliang City is growing in line with national carbon emissions targets, with new energy storage industry as its main focus. The district leverages state-of-the-art technology to enhance manufacturing capacity and meet domestic and international energy demands.

During his visit to HTHIUM, Mr. Ye Zhen, General Manager of the world-leading organization in the field of energy storage, emphasized the importance of innovation in the energy field. “We have launched a 4.0 automated manufacturing plant, where most processes are highly automated and human workers are almost invisible,” he said.

Local officials echoed similar sentiments, stressing that these efforts are aimed at stimulating local employment while promoting economic growth across the region. By integrating renewable energy sources and cutting-edge energy storage solutions, Tongliang is establishing itself as a leader in the emerging new energy industry.

High quality development research tours provide a valuable platform for media, local authorities and businesses to exchange ideas and strategies. The initiatives in Dazu and Tongliang City embody Chongqing’s commitment to sustainable and high-quality development. Insights from these visits will help disseminate successful practices and strengthen collaboration across different sectors.
