DETROIT (WXYZ) – Jared Goff scored three touchdowns and the Lions offense got back on track as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 42-29 on Monday Night Football at Ford Field.
It was a high-scoring game with both teams gaining over 900 yards.

Jared Goff went 18-18 with 3 TDs and the Lions beat the Seahawks 42-29.
Detroit and Seattle both successfully punted on their first drives, but Detroit went off on their second drive. On a 12-play, 93-yard drive, the Lions moved the ball on the ground and through the air, ending with David Montgomery’s 1-yard touchdown run.
On the Seahawks’ next drive, Jack Campbell forced a fumble that was recovered by Carlton Davis and brought to the Seattle 14-yard line.
Detroit capitalized on that, gaining three plays and 14 yards, ending with a Jahmil Gibbs touchdown at the start of the second quarter.
Seattle picked things up on its next drive, gaining 70 yards in 10 plays and a 1-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Walker.
Detroit responded 70 yards to the end of its own half with a touchdown by Gibbs, giving the Lions a 21-7 lead at halftime.
Goff went 12-12 for 92 yards, and Gibbs and Montgomery had 88 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone.
Seattle started the first half with a long drive that went 10 plays, 75 yards, and scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass. The TD came after a questionable pass interference call on Carlton Davis that forced the Seahawks to the 9-yard line. This cut the lead to 21-14.
Once the Lions took over, Goff completed a short, Sanders-like pass to Montgomery, broke several tackles and raced 40 yards down the field into Seattle’s territory.
Ben Johnson upped the trick with another touchdown play, with Goff passing the ball to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who threw a 7-yard touchdown pass back to Goff, making it 28-1 midway through the third. He led by 14. quarter.
Detroit’s defense was once again unable to stop the Seahawks offense, which drove 80 yards in eight plays. Another crucial penalty against the Lions, this time against Terion Arnold, pushed the Seahawks closer to the end zone. They converted again with a Walker touchdown. Seattle attempted two two-point conversions but could not convert.
The Lions’ offense responded quickly with a big play when Goff connected with Jameson Williams for a 70-yard touchdown pass that gave the Lions a 35-20 lead.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Walker ran through the defense for a 21-yard touchdown, his third rushing touchdown of the night, and cut the lead to 35-27.
Detroit went three-and-out on its next drive, but the Lions were able to stop the Seahawks, thanks in part to an offensive pass interference penalty that negated a fourth-down conversion and forced Seattle to punt.
Goff threw for nearly 60 yards on the ensuing drive as the Lions trailed. He scored a touchdown for St. Brown, giving the Lions a 42-27 lead late in the fourth quarter. He was also 3-3 during that drive, making it 18-18 through 3 2/3 quarters.
The Seahawks attacked the field and got as far as the Lions’ 3-yard line, but the Lions’ defense was solid and stopped Seattle on four consecutive plays before the two-minute warning and the Lions took over.
Detroit lasted two plays, but Seattle brought Goff down with a safety in the end zone, cutting the lead to 42-29 before getting the ball back just before the two-minute warning.
A penalty hurt the Lions late in the game as the Seahawks looked to score, but Kirby Joseph intercepted Smith’s pass in the end zone and the Lions clinched the game.
